Richard Robinson
B. 1975. Professional artist living in idyllic Ruakaka in Northland, New Zealand. Having trained and worked as a graphic designer for several years, Richard took the leap as a full time artist in 2001 when he travelled to Europe and held his first solo exhibition in London.
After painting his way around Europe, Richard and his wife Helen returned to New Zealand and settled in Ruakaka. His subsequent exhibition of Northland coastal scenes was a sellout success and he has built on that reputation of excellence since then.
In 2002 he won the Telecom Art Scholarship for Northland and in 2005 was selected to feature in the "New Zealand's Favourite Artists" book for 2006, New Zealand's "12 Contemporary Artists" calendar for 2007 and "A Painted Country" book for 07/08. Meanwhile he's opened his own studio/gallery and taken on a tutoring role.
His paintings grace private and corporate collections worldwide.
